Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
This update on his health comes as the sports world offered its support for the champion in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
