Tributes Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt able to post publicly about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has gone by that I can finally express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the film, adding that he cannot recall "a single day without joy".
"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He concluded with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate essay, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A court order put a restriction on the cases to limit the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" connected to the active case.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a record noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
Following the deaths, public figures shared varying comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing divisive statements that were widely condemned by many commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the critics last week. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan characterized the comments as "shocking" and implied they demonstrated a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by remarking that an aide could have stepped in when the impulse to speak on the tragedy was made.
