That Gruesome Animated Film Ending That Lingers Fans

Among every mature cartoon movies I have personally watched, nothing has stuck with me quite like the fear-filled finale of the explicitly bloody as well as deeply subversive film from 2022 The Unicorn Wars.

In 2015’s, this Spain-based filmmaker developed a grim, bleak and often savage universe that included several minor , desolate hints of optimism.

While Unicorn Wars seems like it stemmed from a drive to advance the medium even more, the director explained that it was more an effort to express a global, cross-cultural message about “the shared root of each battle.”

That message is communicated through a band of colorful pastel bears , obviously inspired by a well-known line of cuddly characters.

Being raised in a society built around aggression as well as the war machine, numerous the bears are consumed by exterminating unicorns, thanks to a religious scripture which states them they used to be rulers of the woodland, before the unicorns drove them out.

Others haven’t fully bought into the brainwashing, and choose to sample drugs or mate outdoors.

Unlike their gentle counterparts, these colorful critters show sexual organs and clear sex drives.

For one especially vicious, pessimistic creature, the character Bluey, the war with the unicorns becomes a road to power — and particularly to authority over his softer, more compassionate sibling the bear Tubby.

Bluey is a bully and an obvious antisocial figure , and while terror dominates his squad and kills his fellow soldiers one by one, he grabs increasingly control on his own behalf, through ever more violent, harmful methods.

Simultaneously, the horned creatures are suffering their own horror, in the form of a spreading, harmful creature in their habitat.

“At the beginning, it seems like a lighthearted film,” the filmmaker said. “Yet it becomes a more dramatic and sad movie. And in the finale, it becomes a terrifying movie.”

The Unicorn Wars starts out similar to one of the more quirky features by an iconic animator, that uncover a naughty glee in permitting animated figures swear, engage in violence, or engage sexually.

Subsequently it becomes more akin to a more grim work by that same artist, including ever more explicit brutality , a noticeable relation to genuine suffering of war.

In the finale, it is a full-on theatrical horror carnage.

The horror that makes this a Halloween-friendly watch begins much sooner than one might expect.

The Unicorn Wars is suited for the devoted fans of gore, for enthusiasts of graphic films who desire to view a film they haven’t ever watched previously, and can endure a story that offers no restraint.

View it with the lights off with no disturbances, and the conclusion will burrow under your skin and take up residence there.
