Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player the Athlete
The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.
The organization did not mention the player by name in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Posted on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.
Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File
No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.
Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles
The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
On the field, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
