Canada's Blue Jays Claim World Series Showdown Versus Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer previously helped the Astros claiming the championship in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their initial World Series following the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive game seven of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing 3-1, Springer delivered a three-run homer in the seventh frame, guiding the Toronto squad in MLB to a four games to three triumph in the series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the upcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm just so happy for this squad, the city, Canada," commented Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "What an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now hit 23 total October home runs, making him third on the list after Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not another player anywhere that I'd choose in that situation except for George Springer with his playoff prowess," noted manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a championship series.

Wilson commented "without a doubt that it hurts" in the wake of his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but praised their work in the campaign.

"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we finished on the wrong side of the series," he added.

Toronto's team secured the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Dodgers in game one on the upcoming Friday.
